JOHN CENA VS. RYBACK: 3 STAGES OF HELL FOR WWE TITLE
John Cena will win in two straight falls and we won’t see an ambulance match.
Just kidding. One “guarantee” in this match is that it will go to the third fall. To me, this is more important for Ryback than it is for John Cena, even though I think Cena will retain and move on after this match. Where will that leave Ryback? Unfortunately, lower in status and interest than he has ever been. Perhaps a feud with Sheamus or another high-level good guy without a title awaits.
CHRIS JERICHO VS. CM PUNK
Assuming CM Punk shows up to the event, this will be the match of the night. It may even surpass their match at Wrestlemania 28, and it will be a great homecoming for Punk. You can expect Money in the Bank 2011-level reactions for the Second City Saint. With Chicago in the Stanley Cup Finals, I wouldn’t be surprised if Punk wears a Blackhawks jersey to the ring, and fans at some point in the match erupt in, a ‘Let’s Go Hawks’ chant. Punk wins in his comeback match.
DOLPH ZIGGLER VS. ALBERTO DEL RIO: WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE
Glad to see Ziggler is recovered and cleared to compete after his concussion. Del Rio is a solid in-ring performer, but for some reason doesn’t seem to be resonating with the WWE Universe as a main top guy, though he has a strong connection with WWE’s Latin population. I personally like his work a lot and think he is best at doing the “little things.” Despite this,Ziggler is on a roll and I see him retaining and holding to Summerslam.
WADE BARRETT VS. THE MIZ VS. CURTIS AXEL: IC TITLE
Fandango was originally in this match, and in my opinion was slated to win the Intercontinental title. A concussion sidelined him and he was replaced with who I am now picking to win, Curtis Axel. Both are on the rise in their WWE careers, and Axel currently is building quite the reputation. Losing here wouldn’t make any sense after beating John Cena and Triple H (despite being by countout). Give me Axel pinning Miz to grab the gold and make references in the future about how his father, Mr. Perfect, proudly wore it, and he will eventually surpass his father’s IC title reign.
THE SHIELD (ROMAN REIGNS / SETH ROLLINS) VS. DANIEL BRYAN / RANDY ORTON: WWE TAG TITLES
The Shield are untouchable right now. They are enjoying long, televised matches and are hitting home runs. I just don’t see them losing any gold Sunday, especially the tag titles. Daniel Bryan is now solo, and also nailing it with terrific matches on Raw and pay-per-view. I look for “Goat Face” to move on to singles competition, perhaps even shaving the beard to signify a chance in attitude, and working toward a title rivalry with Dolph Ziggler, which would have the “IWC” in hysterics.
DEAN AMBROSE VS. KANE: U.S. TITLE
Ambrose pinning Kane is a plus. Kane winning any title at this point in his career is unnecessary. Kane is beyond any championship. Perhaps with the split we see the re-emergence of the darker, more sadistic Kane in the near future. Ambrose wins by crook.
KAITLYN VS. AJ LEE: DIVAS TITLE
I’m a little disappointed with the reveal, but the idea had me intrigued. Kaitlyn’s secret admirer stretched for weeks and ended up being AJ, which set up this match. Truthfully, I like AJ as Divas champion more and hope she gets the title Sunday.
