Tonight on Impact Wrestling: It’s the final moments before Slammiversary and the main combatants meet in six-man tag team action as Bobby Roode teams with Christopher Daniels and Kazarian to face Sting, Kurt Angle and AJ Styles. Elsewhere, Dixie Carter addresses her situation with Styles and it ends in explosive fashion. Should be a good one!
Tonight’s show emanates LIVE! from the Impact Zone in Orlando. “The Professor” Mike Tenay and The Tazz are our hosts.
After hearing her backstage tirade from after Impact went off the air last week, Dixie Carter is in the ring. She says she feels sorry for Christopher Daniels and Kazarian. She says the ripple effect on this is far and wide, so she has no option other than to tell the truth tonight. And before she can spit more than two more words out, Daniels and Kazarian make their way to the ring.
Daniels says Carter made a mistake and she would’ve been happy to hide it, but she got found out. He says she had a hole in her heart that her husband couldn’t fill, but she found a suitable replacement in AJ Styles. He asks a bunch of demanding questions and she starts hitting him. He shoves her down in the corner and tells her to never put her hands on him when Styles comes flying down to make the save. Here comes her husband Serg. He stares at Styles and then clocks him. He walks off as Styles and Carter leave the ring together.
Match #1 – Crimson (Brooklyn, NY) vs. Austin Aries (Minneapolis, Minn.)
Aries goes after Crimson’s left leg. He goes for a Lionsault but Crimson gets his knees up. Crimson stalks him and goes for Red Sky, but Aries turns it into a head scissor takeover. He hits a running dropkick and pulls Crimson in for a potential brainbuster, but Crimson shoves him to the outside. Crimson goes to follow up, but Aries slides back in and hits the ropes and comes through with the suicide dive. They head back in the ring and Aries goes to the top rope, but as the referee is tied up with Crimson, Samoa Joe comes out and sends Aries face-first onto the apron. Crimson grabs him and pins him.
Winner via pinfall: Crimson
Crimson grabs a mic and calls himself the most dominant man in pro wrestling period. He says his streak is longer than Goldberg’s. He says he’s issuing an open challenge for Slammiversary.
Hulk Hogan is out. He talks about the party being on for TNA’s 10th anniversary. He adds, as a special gift, the world title will be defended next Thursday no matter who comes out on top at Slammiversary. This brings the champ, Bobby Roode, out. He quickly heads to the ring and says he’s got a great idea: How about Hogan shuts his mouth.
Roode talks about Hogan has repeatedly disrespected him the last few weeks. Roode says he’s figured it out: Hogan is jealous of him. He says he’s a better world champ than Hogan ever was. He tells Hogan to get back to his office. Then he grabs Hogan by the shirt and says since Hogan’s not an active wrestler, he needs to get the hell out of his ring.
Here comes Sting to the ring and Roode starts putting the boots to him. He gets distracted by Hogan and Sting is back up. They start brawling and Sting pulls Roode’s shirt over his head and starts hockey fighting him. He hits a clothesline and Roode bails.
Match #2 – No. 1 Contender’s Match – Mickie James (Richmond, Va.) vs. Velvet Sky (The Big Apple) vs. Brooke Tessmacher (Houston, Texas) vs. Tara (San Bernardino, Calif.)
We’ve got a four way submission spot here. Fun times. Velvet kicks Tara through the ropes while Mickie takes care of Tessmacher. Velvet and Mickie duke it out. Velvet with a head scissors. She charges Mickie but gets flapjacked. Tara comes back and throws Mickie out of the ring. She sets Velvet up but misses a moonsault. Somehow Velvet ends up out of the ring and Tara and Tessmacher battle it out with Tara hitting a spinning side slam.
Velvet with a DDT on Tara now and Mickie comes down with the Thesz Press and then lands a big kick on Velvet. She gloats too long, though, and Tessmacher comes up and slams her into the canvas for the win.
Winner via pinfall: Brooke Tessmacher
Jeremy Borash is in the ring to administer the contract signing between Bully Ray and Joseph Park. Both men come to the ring and Ray immediately rips up the contract. He grabs the mic and says that was a standard wrestling contract for a standard wrestling match, something they aren’t going to have. He pulls out the new contract, one that relives him of all liability. Ray signs it then slams it in Park’s chest, yelling at him to sign it. Park refuses to sign it. Ray offers his hand for a hand shake and then just spits in Park’s face. He yells at Park to sign it and then starts flipping out.
Park starts talking about how for the last 10 years, his brother Abyss has given his body for this company and how dare Ray try to desecrate his legacy. He says Ray’s got a fight at Slammiversary, but he’s not doing it for himself, not for the people, he’s doing it for Abyss.
As he signs the contract, some minor pyro goes off and Abyss appears on the video screen. He talks about how Park is going to get burned and how he doesn’t need Park’s help. He then addresses Bully Ray, noting Ray said he’d leave him for dead, but he doesn’t look very dead, does he? He says both of them are going to find out how alive he is at Slammiversary.
As Park is looking at the screen, he is attacked from behind by Ray.
Match #3 – TNA Television Championship – (c) Devon (New York City) vs. Robbie E (Seaside Heights, NJ)
Madison Rayne is out on the stage applying lip gloss, seemingly indicating that her crush is either in the match or at ringside (Robbie T and Garett Bischoff are in the respective corners).
Devon gets rolling on a comeback. He hits a big shoulder block, a uranage and a headbutt and Robbie is in trouble. He goes to charge out of the corner but Robbie T grabs his leg. Bischoff comes over to confront him, but the referee takes him. Robbie T enters the ring as Devon gets a small package. He reverses it, but can’t get out of the ring before the referee comes back in. The referee confronts him, allowing Bischoff to come in and reverse the small package. The referee sees it and counts the fall.
Winner via pinfall and STILL TNA Television Champion: Devon
Hulk Hogan is back in the ring to finish the announcement he had when Roode cut him off. Before he can even come close to spitting it out, Mr. Anderson’s music hits and he comes out. He says that Hogan was about to announce he was getting a title shot next week. Hogan asks Anderson if it’s OK if he completes his announcement, so he calls out Rob Van Dam. Then he calls out Jeff Hardy.
Hogan books the three to face each other in a No. 1 contender’s match at Slammiversary.
Match #4 – Christopher Daniels (Los Angeles, Calif.), Kazarian (Anaheim, Calif.) & Bobby Roode (Toronto, Ontario) vs. Kurt Angle (Pittsburgh, Pa.), AJ Styles (Gainesville, Ga.) & Sting (Venice Beach, Calif.)
Styles is nowhere to be found after leaving the building following the opening segment.
Faces get a quick start as Angle puts Kazarian in the ankle lock and Sting puts Daniels in the Scorpion Deathlock, but they both makes the ropes.
Roode has Sting in the crossface when Styles comes running through the crowd to break it up. He drills Roode with the Pele and Angle comes back in and sends Kazarian over the top rope with a belly-to-belly suplex. In the ring, Daniels gets the Pele and Styles comes flying over the top rope onto Daniels, Kazarian and Angle.
Roode comes to attack Sting with the belt, but he ducks it, scoops Roode up and puts him in the Scorpion Deathlock. Roode has no choice but to tap yet again!
